New Quilt
Dad's surgical incision...the kids say, "YUCK!"
Dr. Bouche says that this "z" type incision works best. Better access. He says most of his practice is redo's on this problem initially treated by a different surgeon using an inferior approach. Anyway...the stitches are out and the dressing came off today. Alan is trilled to be in the shower without the rubber ball to sit on and his foot dangling over the tub on the floor to stay dry!

Patti and the cartoonist George Booth
For years, way back into the 1970's, Patti has relished the cartoonist, George Booth. I remember being in a bookstore in NW Portland, in Chinatown. Patti started looking thru a George Booth book there and was laughing out loud and tears were streaming down her face! I had to go to the other end of the bookstore and pretend I didn't know her, but she kept looking for me to show me more cartoons.
Recently, we were at the West Salem used bookstore (where Miranda was beaming when she found two new, hardcover books in the Twilight series of books she wanted. Apparently Patti is allowing her to read them as long as she promises not to date a vampire or become a vampire). Patti asked the saleslady if they had any George Booth book and they did have one. It was like being back 30 years. Patti started laughing and was literally leaning on the bookshelves with tears starting to run down her face. She said "Look! These books are unavailable and out of print." The saleslady remarked dryly, "There's as reason for that."
I think Patti's kids don't exactly get the humor either, but they are greatly entertained by their mother who can barely stand up when she starts reading these. We finally got into the van to head back to Dallas, but even the remembering of the cartoons she'd just read started her into hysterics again. I was wondering if she was safe to drive!
