The word from Kenya is bleak. No food, no way to get money, grocery stores looted. It's hard to believe that Thomas was here with us such a short time ago, shopping for shoes at Wal-mart. My friends at work from Ghana and Uganda believe it will be a brief period of unrest, followed by peace. We have not heard how the children have faired. We know that Thomas and his wife and son are staying with his wife's uncle's house. However, the uncle was killed in the riots.

It's one thing to hear these things on the news and another to have a personal relationship with some who are going through it. It's not that your heart isn't touched but it all becomes so more real and freightening to have "family" go through it. There is a feeling of helplessness, grief, and worry. You hope for the best, pray and trust in God. This is where you faith meets the road so to speak.
